I have an XPS M1530 scheduled for delivery tommorow. After Dell came public about the Nvidia cards failing, I realized the problem is more serious than I originally thought. I did not purchase any extended warranty and do not intend to, so I do not want this laptop. I tried cancelling the order numerous times but it was too far into the production process to do so. I called today to return it, but was hit with the 15% restocking fee. I told the rep that I just received it (they won't issue an RMA for an item not physically in your hands) and that it's unopened, but I couldn't get it dropped. They gave me a $50 off coupon which I took, but that's it. I've read many posts on here about people returning laptops, even opened ones, without a restocking fee. How do they get away with this? I am going to refuse delivery, as that's my last option. Is that still going to get me a restocking fee? Won't the order automatically cancel after a set amount of time? O yeah, I used a Dell Preferred Account to order, so I didn't pay anything yet, and therefore waiting a month for the refused delivery and order cancellation to occur is no problem to me. Any help would be great. Thanks!

I'd try calling them over and over till you get a nice smart person who understands what's at hand and has the authority to authorize such and action.
I was able to return my d630 for a complete refund.
Tell them that as well. -
I returned my m1530 and didn't have to pay any restocking fees or return shipping fees. Just give them a call.

or wait till you get it then call them and tell them it is not performing to your expectations or meeting your needs. as long as you return within the time frame there is no fee.. worst case is (hate to say this) even if nothing is "wrong" with it.... there is now.. either find something or make something up.. again i dont advocate this but if it has to be done.. but i think as long as you simply say you are not happy with it after you have used it they will take it back dell has been awesome to me personally so far..

also if you are there to refuse delivery there will be no restocking fee..

Thanks for all the quick replies. I'll try calling them more throughout the day to see if I can get someone who won't charge a fee. Any more advice would be great. I'll keep you guys updated.
