Been considering this m1530 for a while now and saw the new Product Red penryn processor set up:

    http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=19&kc=&oc=DYCWHR1

Is there anyway to get this with my MPP? I'm not given a number or anything, just a link to start at and buy through and I can't find it.

And if I wait to buy, how can you tell which ones are penryn's and which aren't if they start making them mainsteam soon? Is is just the 3 MB and 6 MB caches? Thanks.

I couldn't find the product red through my EPP discount either.

To tell the diffrence just look at the model numbers.

When I was ready to purchase my 1530 there was no WSXGA+ option on the EPP website (I have to click through from my employers site to make the purchase). I just called the the EPP phone # 1-800-695-8133 and the CS rep was able to place my order with the screen I wanted. Maybe it would be the same for the Product Red system.

Would a 3 MB penryn be better than the current 4 MB processors?

Edit: and if I was to get a non penryn now, would I be able to upgrade later if I bought the processor seperately?

As of today, it's only available on the (PRODUCT)RED M1530 linked above. There is some speculation as to when they'll be available on other models.
