    Dear Readers,

How do I go about Installing the RAM that is under the Keyboard/ I have a Inspiron e1405, I have watched a few Guides that they used an Latitude to demonstrate...

What I noticed is... the little slit on the side is part of the 'hinges' where the monitor rotates... And I am a bit afraid to really use too much force to just take out that slab.

So I was curious if there is an easier way to access the RAM under the keyboard... And I already made a few scratch >< which really made me cringe ><

    Thanks.

    EDIT:
    Already watched This Video

Be sure to ground youself before handling the ram. This can be accomplished by touching something metal (door handle, lamp, anything nearby).

If you have a static charge and touch the ram it can get fried.

Keep this in mind and this will be the easiest upgrade you've ever done.

it's really not as hard as it looks. use the smallest flat head screwdriver you have to lift up the side hinge. it may seem like you'll break it but it's pretty sturdy...just make sure you evenly pull up the plate instead of just yanking it up.
the few screws holding the keyboard in place are very simple to take off. it took me about 5mins to change out both sticks in my latitude. i know that guide on this NBR forum seems daunting, but it's pretty easy.

    good luck!

Take a look at the service guides at support.dell.com

    http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins640m/en/SM/memory.htm#wp999869

According to that, you have remove two screws in the battery bad before removing the hinge cover(it could be the reason why the hinge cover(slab) is hard to remove). Although some force is required to remove the hinge cover, it shouldnt crack or break.

To avoid scratches, try a creditcard(or giftcard) instead of a flathead screwdriver...it should be strong enough to lift the hinge cover(I just tried it on my Latitude :) )
