So I got an LCD Kit replacement from Dell. The entire thing.

I believe I got the camera.

A little long "bar" with a connector @ the end.

I think there is only one way to screw the camera in. There are 2 small openings that have to be lined up and then there are 2 screws that attach the "bar" to the back of the LCD cover.

There is also a small connector. Pull the TAB up, insert connector, put TAB down.

I did all that, and now, when I look through the camera EYE in the front of the 1720, I just see straight through.

I can read some #'s, and the camera is not detected by the camera software.

    Anybody?

Has anyone replaced the screen themselves?

Anyone knows what the camera looks like?

    Bump!

I have opened my screen before and taken pictures. The camera looks like the following.

Awesome, thank you so much for that picture.

Well, the "piece" that dell sent me only had the connector to the left, and none of those "rubber" pieces.

Installing it is pretty simple. I had a feeling that Dell had sent me an incomplete setup.

    Thanks a lot man!

Those rubber pieces on each side are the microphones, if you don't have them you may want to speak with a Dell rep about that.

I got the new camera from Dell. This time there actually is a camera there.

Had to remove the front bezel again (hate doing that) and it all works fine.

    So let's see:

I replaced the video card in my notebook, the LCD, the camera, the RAM, the Wireless card, the DVD-RW drive and the HD.

What else could I possibly do to this thing?

To think that I sold my desktop rig because I just kept on replacing the components all the time!
