I need to replace the video card fan. I just received a replacement parts from Dell, but was not able to open the back panel. I unscrew all the screws in the back but something is still holding the panel.

Does anyone know how to open it?

on the top side of the computer, right above the keyboard (where the power button and status lights are) is a snap on panel. Pry this panel off by starting lifting from the right side. On the botton side, open up the cover for the wireless card. Remove the 2 wires attached to the wireless card. Back on the top side. Pull the connector off right above the print screen key, this is the video connector. Remove the 4 screws that secure the LCD screen to the bottom and remove the LCD display. Next remove the 2 screws that hold the keyboard in place. Now you have access to the remaining screws that are holding it together. If you need any more info let me know, I have torn mine apart more times than I can remeber.

    Hello,

My name is Mike, I’m a Technical Analyst located at Dell corporate headquarters in Round Rock, TX. I’m part of an internet outreach team developed to interact with the online community regarding technical questions and issues that customers face with Dell products. I read your question and wanted to help. If you go to www.support.dell.com and click on the “Manuals” link you can enter your service tag or select your system from the drop down menu and you will be able to view and download the complete teardown for your system. It has full pictures and text to walk you through removing and replacing parts. It also comes in handy when cleaning out the system for regular maintenance. I hope this helps.

    Thank you,

    Mike
