I just called support and they sent me a replacement drive. They sent it via airplane and arrive the next day in the morning.

SO how do I take out the cd rom drive to replace it with the new NEC drive? Thanks!!!

    P.S.

Dell support isn't as bad as most people make it out to be. I've requested software and they are sending it overnight airplane as well! awesome.

Go to dell.com and access the dell service manual for your model. It's a very simple procedure.
