Well, it's impossible to game on my e1505 unless it's plugged in. Is it just the CPU that gets underclocked when on battery? Or are there other components being nerfed. I want to be able to switch back and for what settings I want... because yes, there are time I want battery life and times I don't care.

the GPU gets underclocked and undervolted when running on battery.
As far as I know the battery just doesn't generate enough power to run the GPU at full speed.
I don't think there's anything you can do about it. Gaming will always be sluggish when running on battery power. -
pretty much everything on your notebook underclocks itself...
the cpu, gpu, sound card, nic
as had already been discussed in another thread on the exact same subject, gaming on battery is a bad idea. -
wow that's pretty lame. I don't think I would have purchased a laptop if I had known that.
-
You can always change it, turn it off... it's a good thing! It is considered a BONUS. You would have to buy a pretty old laptop to not have this feature...
I would look on ebay for a computer that's around 5 years old if you don't want it XD -
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
disabling all the power managment while on battery, will allow you to play your games, just for not very long, an hour or so if your lucky, in most cases it really isnt worth it

In the power options in control panel, you can set the power scheme to home/office desk. Then the cpu will run at the advertised speed instead of using the Speedstep method.
-
get the RightMark CPU Clock Utility 2.1
http://cpu.rightmark.org/download.shtml
it should let you assign clocks and voltages on the way you want. -
Or try Notebook Hardware Control...google it.
-
i guess you don't really 'get' notebooks then.
you can try to return it for a refund. i'm sure you can piece together a good desktop gaming system with the money.
make sure to hurry up because you only have so many days to get a refund.
good luck.
