I have a pata harddrive and I dont know how take the adapter out to expose the 40 pins male connector so I can put it in the external enlosure. I dont want to bend or break the pins.

I think you can just pull off the adapter? I have a 600m, uses the same type of adapter (it's like a long flat thing that sticks out, right?), and I could just pull it off to get at the pins.

Yep, that adapter pops right off with a bit of force.

So I just pull it out just with my hands, without any tools? And touch the metal part of the adapter without geting static electricity into the harddrive?

Just ground yourself before you do it; grab a metal pipe or doorknob, and don't work on carpet. Once you ground yourself, you are effectively electrically neutral and cannot static shock anything unless you build up more charge.

And yes, no tools are required. Fingernails might help.

Ground yourself, be gentle and pull it straight . If you dont pull it off straight you may bend the pins and create problems when installing into the external drive case.
