I'm running Win Vista RC2, and a few weeks ago (under RC1), I accidentally allowed Windows Update to automatically install an "updated" Dell Bluetooth driver, which I then found out was the MS Bluetooth stack.
The Widcomm stack I had downloaded and installed from Dell's site is still there (e.g. tray icon still present), but it just doesn't detect the presence of the BT card.
I just can't seem to find how to uninstall the MS stack to return to the Widcomm, which works much better.

I am not familur with Vista and will give you the directions for XP. It should be the same or simular since XP and Vista are just new versions of NT.
Start> Control Panel> System> Hardware Tab> Device Manager. Find the bluetooth and right click to uninstall. Then in Device Manager click the find new hardware wizard. It should find the bluetooth adapter. The find hardware wizard will pop up and point it to the right drivers. Install the drivers and test. If there is still a problem I recommend uninstalling the bluetooth drivers then the Widcomm software and reboot. After the reboot install the Widcomm software.
Good Luck and let me know how it goes.
