Most people find the "laptop beep" noise annoying whenever it occurs, but I'm wondering if there's actually a way to to access it, to invoke it?

What I'm actually looking for, is some sort of battery alert program that can make the "beep" go off when the battery is low. I often find myself leaving my vostro unplugged, or the power cord falls out without my noticing...and turns off while I'm not at the laptop. I don't like sleep settings because I need the system running all the time. ;)and I only use headphones, not the laptop speakers, so wav sound alerts is not really an option...
    any ideas? thanks

isn't there an option in power management for a beep/alarm when battery gets to 10%?

Here's all I can find. No mention of beep alerts. Down the bottom, Low battery notification is only On, or Off.
