    Just wondering....

I know that the Vostro line is designed for business users, which automatically means that it'll be more durable than the average consumer laptop.

However, I'd like to know how tough the Vostros are. Specifically, Id like to know how the Vostro 1400 does in the durability department? Is quite tough? Somewhat tough? Tough in name only?
Are these notebooks designed to last for some time ? (3~4 years or so)

Are they strong enough to survive a fall? Will they survive some abuse like the Thinkpads can? has anybody experienced a Vostro being put to the test?

...And one more question, do the Latitude D630s have spill-proof keyboards?

    Thank You

The Vostros use the EXACT same chassis as the Inspirons (coming straight from a Dell Kiosk person I talked to). Ive read that the durability is much greater than previous Inspirons as well.

Although Vostros are business class, I would still rate Thinkpads on a different level (no offense Vostro ppl), cause thats what Thinkpads are best at.

Do you mean to say that the Inspirons are just as tough as the Vostros? Are the internal frame materials also the same? Or are the Vostros tougher from the inside?

    Thanks

But doesn't Dell state that the Vostros are "Road-Ready"? What's that supposed to mean, then? Does it mean that the Inspirons are also RoadReady?

    Once Again, Thanks

Well it could mean 1 of 2 things.

    1. They actually do employ some magnesium.. or w/e frame that improves quality, and that guy I talked to doesnt know squat lol

    or

    2. The inspirons are too "Road Ready", but Dell chose to highlight this "feature" only on the Vostros in an attempt to wow the business crowd. This is actually a clever marketing move on Dell's part imo.

It just means that Dell is marketing the durability with the Vostros, while the Inspirons have the same durability but they aren't making it a selling point.

Anyway, I expect that the Latitudes are more durable than Vostro/Inspirons. The Latitudes are thinner and a little lighter as well, and come with a 3-year warranty standard.

Most of the current Dell coupons expire on the 8th.
Do You expect that they might offer decent discounts on the D630s after that, since they don't have any now?

And one more more thing...Dell doesn't offer Vista Home Premium on the D630 online. You think they would offer it if you called them?

    Thanks

nope, dont expect them too since its a business model.

my E1505 was advertised as "road ready" i think when i bought it last year haha

ordinateurcomputer, you ask if the laptops are durable, well, my though is that since its a piece of technology, it is bound to be delicate and must be treated with respect. if you take care of any product, it should last you for a while. even thinkpads have their limit, though more so then other notebooks. it all depends on how much you are willing to pay!

    Cheers
