    How was your order experience? *CANADA*

    Dec 15. It stayed at "Order Processing" for about a week, Dell then canceled and re-ordered on Dec 22 (???), went into "Production" My Dell rep said 30 days, EDD says Feb. 22.. we'll see which comes first. On a side note, my order came with an external drive, which has already shown up at my door.

    Go figure. As well, there was an offer from Bell Canada that came with the purchase for 3 months free high speed internet. I had to laugh, 'cause within 3 days of my order, they called and wanted to come and hook up the Laptop!!!

    Yes I got the same offer like yours 3 month free internet.
    Well I wrote to the customer asking for more information about the "in production" thing.
    Never got an answer.

    Yes the factories do, 24/7.

    However, those of us waiting on Studio17's with 1080p/blueray/i7...
    There's so much freaking out going on, shock dismay, surprise.
    There's no sinister plot, it's simply a matter of Dell being caught short handed.

    They don't have the stock. This is why those options have been taken away, I'm sure by March they'll be back.

    I figure that most of us will get our laptops mid to late Feb. I almost certain that if you have an EDD of mid to late Jan. It will be delayed.

    So resign yourself to wait, or cancel your order and see what spring brings with ASUS.. by then Dell will have most likely sorted things out, you can always order again.

    Oh, and smile.

    As a told you before I ordered mine with the 12% discount for a dell-school thing which saved me approx 190$. I guess for my case, waiting is a little worthing the wait

    And yes a question dell hasn't yet retrieved money on my account. Is that normal,?

    Had my Laptop replaced for the 3rd time in 6 months, they've upgraded me from a 1340 2.66ghz 8gb ram to a 1645 i7 720QM (similar features all around)

    The problem i'm facing however is that it takes them forever to figure out what they're sending me. My order was placed on the 29th of December 2009, and today on the 20th it was canceled and reissued for the second time.

    They have not once given me an estimated delivery date. When I phone in to inquire about its progress (in progress) no one has any more information than its in progress.

    The last person I spoke with today said it was going to be shipped out today. I check the order status page after lunch to find that (as i mentioned earlier) it was canceled with an order date set at today as well as (false) estimated delivery date for tomorrow.

    As i mentioned earlier this is the 3rd time i've had to go through this. The first replacement was cancelled and reordered 4 times and took over a month to ship out. The second time they had it out to me within 9 days with no cancellations.(also this was done 1 week prior to Christmas).

    Anywho rant off.

    They are so back ordered it's unreal.

    Don't hold your breath, whatever they tell you..don't believe.
    Assume that you might not get it until the end of Feb, less disappointment, that way.

    If you can't accept that, cancel.

    does anyone else see alot of CANCELED orders on their dell.ca order status page.

    What i mean is you order your laptop, get an order number only to have that order canceled and replaced with a new order? So far that's happened to me (on this order) twice. Original order 12/29/09, canceled and new order 01/12/10, canceled and finally another order 01/20/10 (in progress)

    Same as you I ordered on the 29/12/2009 and ever since it's in the production state with an EDD of the 25/01/10. I worte them a lot of mails to get more details, and i got only an answer when "i threated" that if i dont get my laptop on the 25/01 I ll cancel my order.
    They wrote me back telling me that they have put my order in priority thing

    Yeah I've phoned them numerous times because I don't even have an estimated ship date.

    I was going through my previous exchange and noticed that on september 24th the order was placed, canceled 3 times and finally on September 29th the last order was put through. 16 days later on Oct 15th the laptop shipped out.

    My Studio XPS 16 was ordered on Nov 9th and delivered Nov 18th. So either way i'm kinda just gonna wait it out and see what happens. Lets just hope too much doesn't change between now and time of delivery (system wise)

    Tomorrow is the 25/01/10 My EDD date and it's not even in the boxing stage !!!

    "Information Temporarily Unavailable" I wander if you speak french but this is what I got from my EPP manager ( my EPP never answered on none of my mails or my phone calls his is never in his desk, )

    Well, at least its in the process (hopefully) of being shipped out.

    My information goes as far as, "its in production, it will take 10-15 days to receive your laptop from date of order".

    Keeping in mind my original order date was December 29th 09. I'm not sure what to make of that. lol.

    Another rep told me yesterday that I should expect it before the first week of february. So yeah.

    I didn't use any codes. The reason why my information is so screwed up is because for me this isn't a new order. Its actually a laptop replacement of my Studio XPS 1640.

    I suppose even though they create a new system like a new order they don't necessarily care enough to put proper tracking info on it.

    btw, whats the Ecode value?

    Called today and they told me that I have to wait for the 10/02/10. F*** I'm calling tomorow to cancel my order and bye bye dell.
    Go to hell dell, If any one of you is going to order something from dell specially dell.ca DONT, I will not trust them anymore and go to hell with your I7.

    shouldnt be a restocking fee if you don't accept delivery.

    Ok so here is my story... (Dell Canada)

    Ordered on Jan 11th for a 1-day only deal of XPS 16 with core i5 520M and ATI 5730 GPU. Loved the ATI 5730 cuz it consumes lower power and is smaller. Sales rep I chatted with told me delivery is 10-18 business days. Great!

    After purchase, EDD shows up as Feb 25th, 2010... 35 business days! Emailed order support couple times about it. Got in touch with my sales rep, who says ATI 5730 is new and OUT OF STOCK and they don't even know when it will be in stock or if they'll even have it as an option in the future! So the guy recommended me to downgrade to ATI 4670 which is still good i guess.

    Guy canceled and reinstated my order on Jan 23rd with the ATI 4670 GPU. New EDD: March 1st, 2010! He told me its just an EDD and I MAY get my laptop earlier than that. WOW!

    So now i'm still waiting. It's really frustrating and agonizing. I feel cheated cuz Dell advertised something they don't have as a build option just to attract sales. I just emailed their order support again to confirm that my machine has actually moved into production rather than still sitting in pre-production stage.

    eBay sellers have better customer service than Dell...

    HAHA, lucky you. it'll be there just keep an eye out. worst case you can always go to the depot and pick it up if you don't get the delivery. :D

    if you call the general customer service number they will be able to page the driver with your package (as long as you can provide the tracking number) they can even re route the truck back to you if you say you saw the truck drive by without stopping to deliver the package.

    She told me that it may be more than one truck ( Really doubt about that ) and that I have to wait until 17h !!!
    Nothing yet UPS passed twice fedex too, and no Purolator :S :mad:@@@

    Hmm... I'm wondering how did you check if your machine has reached purolator facility in US or not? I called the Purolator number they gave me and they say they can only know when the shipment has arrived at Canada. Is there any way for me to track it in the US?

    I'm on my new dell 1747 :)
    Well I guess you know all the story with me and dell and purolator :) now as I promised here's some pic of my system

    My impressions :
    Good things ;
    +nice system boots fast, rans fast and smooth spacially with a 4G @1333Hz wow it's really fast.
    +The screen so bright :D altghou its just TLED.
    +Keyboard nice soft with no flex.
    +Sound with a subwoofer, sounds nice but not so professional
    +I played Fritz 12 resident Evil for more than 2 hours at max res I got average 40 fps @1900x600 not so bad specially when it doesn't get hot neither do the adapter 90W.
    +I took the black one and it looks nice impressive and I found it a little heavy but it's ok it's a desktop replacement.
    +Very silent, fan hardly audible.
    Cons,
    - The biggest one when the screen is opend more than 90° it blocks the air flow :eek:
    - Lack of USB ports
    - fingerprints are every where :)
    - I hate the Fn and Fx combination so stupid but that can be changed under the bios I guess.
    - And most impotantly there are no leds of activity no HDD no Wifi or bluetooth You got to figure out how to deal with that.
    - When youtype the way I do, both hands on the keyboard you block the speakers !!! stupid dell
    For the throtteling issues I dont know yet I ve always been on the adapter and the battery but after gaming when I check the battery is still at 100%.

    I'm terrified Dell doesn't have any more, and put a 900p screen in mine.
    The wait is killing me.

    When I thought I had to wait until Feb 22.. I was calm.
    Now that I only have to wait 2 days.. time goes very slowly.

    I'm more nervous now then when I rode my first motorcycle.

    Hey guys when you receive yours please advise if any are still coming with the 1080P..heard rumblings that we may not get our systems with that config..and some peeps even getting the lower res screen when they ordered the 1080p version....good luck to all of us...

    Update....called CS and they advised to check back in 9 days....confirmed backorder on parts but no specifics....well by the time I get the thing ..if at all... it will be warm enough to sit on the deck with it.....

    Called Dell...still no EDD ...advised me to cancel or call again in 4 days???
    I may be calling for an Asus in 4 days lol...my guess is the screen is backordered but they can't confirm this....

    another update ..went with the xps 16 ordered 3/2 ..edd 3/22 but was shipped 3/9...so ..go figure waited 3 mos for the studio 17 and they never gave me an edd so I turfed it...any day now...cheers!!!
