I'm receiving my M140 with Windows Media Center 2005 on Tuesday. Will there be a disc or can I create a disc from which I'll be able to reformat and put on a basic Windows Media Center without any of the junk software that Dell includes? What exactly will come with the M140 as far as discs & or partitions that will let me reformat?

Dell doesn't include the software anymore to make your own CD. If you ordered a backup OS disk when you placed your laptop order, you will be able to use this to reformat your laptop. If not, contact dell and request the disk. You might have to pay $10 for them, but it is better than dealing with all of the junk.

The standard partitions for dell systems is your main partition and restore partition which will take up 5-10gb of space. If you do reformat, you can delete the restore partition because it will be no longer valid.

Just be sure not to delete the partition Dell uses for MediaDirect. If you do, you won't be able to use the software to see DVDs & hear music w/o booting up Windows.
