I was looking at a few eBay deals selling the E1705. I just want to know if anyone has ever bought a Dell off of eBay and how did that experience turn out.

From my experience a 1705 on eBay will cost MORE than from Dell. Leaving the question as to WHY bother!!!

I just sold my 2+ year old I1100 on eBay, that make sense to me, but new boxes, just go to Dell.

IMO you're better off checking Dell Outlet frequently. You can grab some great deals there on occasion. The newer models are either cancelled orders or items returned within the 21 day period. Either way you get the full warranty. I got my XPS600 from Dell Outlet at about half price.

The downside is you may not get exactly the configuration you want. But the same applies to Ebay.

Great thanks for the info. I have been checking the outlet regularly, but I haven't found that perfect model yet. And can you apply any discount coupons to the outlet models?

Yes I get some %33 off coupons in my e-mail every few weeks its seems they are for the outlet only though. The outlet is constantly chaning though, best time to look is early in the morning.
I found an E1705 pretty nicely setup with a 256Mb go card in it for under $800 a few weeks back. Not refurb but a previously ordered system. Just wait for them to put the model you want on sale and just check randomly and be quick to add it to your cart, some go faster than you can refresh the page.

    I got my E1505 from the outlet...check it out...Dual Core 2.0Ghz, 1GB RAM, 100GB 5400RPM HDD, CDRW/DVD, ATI X1400, 3945 Wireless w/Bluetooth, Truelife display for $724!!!!! It must have been a pricing mistake...but, hey, I'm not complaining!! :D

(I am looking on the Outlet site all the time...just keep looking...they have some unbelievably priced configs sometimes!).

Well, it was a deal I just couldn't pass up, and i'm lovin' the E1505! I had an XPS M140 before this, and I like the 14.1" size better, though. As soon as the E1405 has an add-in video option, i'm going to change to the E1405 (I think...I got such a good deal on my E1505, i'm kinda attached to it!)
