Why is it that from last week to this week, the prices for 1520's has jumped so much. The same config I did last week is now about $800 more today. No more 2GB for free, it is an expensive option, no more 160GB hard drive standard now an expensive option with 80GB standard. Most other options have jumped in price too. Dell you are driving me crazy.

Really sucks when Dell Executive office calls with a solution to my problem. Return the computer for a full refund, give me a $200 coupon and let me reorder a system, because they can't put through orders for some reason. Now even with the $200 coupon I can't get near the same specs and to top it off I loose my last three years of warranty and complete care on my current system, because they don't refund or transfer that.

yeah i posted about this last week even .... the prices have been rising every week.. A LOT... maybe watch for another coupon... take the coupon they give you and ask them if it will stack with another one?? hard to say.. this is why i didnt cancel and re-order the 1720 instead ... even though the 1720 config'ed exactly the same was only 100$ more.... thats ridiculous 100$ difference from the 15 to 17?? dell is ass backwards

Considering all their manufacturing problems, it sounds like they're doing the sensible thing. If I couldn't make enough computers to meet demand, I'd raise the price.

Dell's prices are cheaper than their competitors. I was in Sams Club today and you wouldn't believe the junk they were selling for $1,000.

Sorry man. I was watching for 4-5 weeks for price breaks before I ordered mine, and was able to save a lot of money and get 5 or 6 options for free. The wait will be worth it.

i got mine the night before the $325 off coupon expired. I don't think the prices are going to be as good as they once were.. I got mine for $1,100 was a steal! It's all about the coupons!

Yep, I got the laptop in my sig for ~$1180 or something around there, and that's after taxes.
Now, my same laptop is like $1700 with taxes, insane!
Oh well, helps our resale value on the used market if any of us are crazy enough to sell one.

For me there is no point in even ordering because even with my $200 coupon from Dell Executive I am loosing big time. I am already loosing 3 years or complete care, it would have been nice if Dell got back to me 4 weeks ago, instead of ignoring my emails and calls. I will be giving them a call back tomorrow to give them a piece of my mind.

Man, here's my first post, and I'm feeling the pain of not having ordered my 1720. The T7300 option is gone, the prices are up, and now I'm dooowwwn.

Gotta squeeze some more life outta my ol Inspi 9100..

Dell has become ridiculously over-priced and in my opinion its not a case of the a more expensive option being of better quality.

Id rather go to Best Buy and pick up a Hp with better specs than a Dell as I would get better value for my money.

What was your problem? The solution to mine was also a full refund, but there was no talk of a $200 coupon :(

Yeah Dell is really going down the crapper. Huge delays, notebooks always having a problem or two, and now this.

The delays may be over though. I ordered on 8/28 and the thing got to Riverside (about 2.5 hours away from me) on the 3rd of September, and it was delivered to me on the 4th, one day early of the EDD. If I had been so inclined I could have called them and put it on hold to pick it up on the 3rd, which is a pretty quick turnaround, I think.

That's because you ordered a Vostro. Most people who ordered a Vostro got theirs quick. However the delays are still present with the Inspiron line and XPS M1330.

my guess is that they are trying to herd the new buyers into buying Vostros...

I know for a fact I got screwed over buying my 1420. But what can you do when your lappy dies suddenly at the start of the year? :(

It'll be even worse next week likely though

The only reason I am sticking with my long delay is that I got a killer system (T7300 , 8600, 2GB ram all the fixin's) for about $1095 when the prices were good. You really can't find anything near that currently with a $1000 price tag.

Wow.. The Inspiron, configured to about what I got from Lenovo 2 months ago, is about 150 MORE. And it's an inspiron, not even a lattitude!

Wow. They're already slipping in sales and they expect to win people over with this?

Actually, for a BETTER machine, you can get a Lattitude now for less than an inspirion. Better built too. WHo the hell would ever get an inspiron?

I just configured a vostro and the price for that is still really low, about $1095 for a very nicely configured machine.

Yeah, i almost bought the vostro 1700.. Then the $325 coupon came out for the Inspiron 1720 so i jumped on it! Thank god i did, Dell is raping people with there new prices.. No more 1.8GHz option or 2.0GHz(well they still have it but its not as fast as they one they had up before), and no more coupons available (at least as of now).

Funny how you say "Dell is raping people"

It's not like anyone has to buy a Dell...there's at least 10 different brands of similar/configured laptops out there...If Dell isn't giving you what you want, try HP, then try Acer, Asus, Sager, Hypersonic, Alienware, Toshiba, Sony, the list goes on and on...

exactly, if the colour option is in short supply then take it off, don't raise the price to one that the value of the colour is not!

I agree, simply remove the option rather than cause delays or raise the price and cause delays, that is stupid!
