Hi, I am having some trouble with my Internet explorer. At times when I am surfing, hundreds of new IE windows open up randomly and they keep on opening up till I kill the process in the Task Manager. I did a full system scan using Mc Afee but it says the system is clean.

Any idea if this is malware or some wierd IE bug?

you got a trojan probably..or some resistent spyware..

I think a clean Vista install is your best bet - just to be safe..

I agree. Without at least trying to correct the situation, you risk losing all data without a good fight! lol

In addition to what Everway9 has suggested, I'd run my AV app as well. A reinstall should be a last resort unless you have nothing of importance on your machine. BTW, if malware checks fail, there are sites where analyists will check over HJT logs for you, and help you get rid of malware you can't delete on your own if that should become the case.

I really dont have any important data on my system since I just bought it, but it took me nearly a week to get all the gadgets I like and customizing everything to my liking, so going through that all over again would be really annoying...

By the way, If I install a anti-spyware like super anti spyware or Ad-Aware, would it clash with Mc Afee's built in anti spyware? Or would that not be a problem, since the pre installed McAfee was the main reason I was reluctant to install any other anti spyware.

Personally, I don't know; haven't used McAfee in years. Don't know what to say except give the apps a shot and try. You could, if necessary, uninstall McAfee and either use a free app, or a trial of NOD, Kaspersky or the like until you solve your problem.

I think you should try Adaware/SpyBot/MalwareBytes (these have never given me any compatability issues before) If after that you still have problems Kick all else in to touch and install NOD32 (after uninstalling any previously installed antivirus software. I do think though that you will be good to go after running the above. Good luck!

Thanks Guys, I think I will remove McAfee and Intall Kapersky and some antipyware and run a scan to check whether it solves the problem, just dont feel safe using the net till I am sure the system is malware free.

Don't forget you will still need an internet connection to download virus/spyware definition files. Trust me! Run spybot, malwarebytes and adaware first then install AV after you have scanned. You will probably find that when you have run the above the problem will fixed!
