    Thread explains it all...

I've been on my 1520 for about 3 hours now. I reinstalled vista, reinstalled drivers and so forth... gettin' all my apps on here. And let me just tell you, I LOVE MY 1520!!! I played the Doom 3 Demo, it played wonderfully. I will probably be writing a review soon.

I will run a 3dmark06 test pretty soon.

    meanie...

I hope while the carrier is walking towards your door, and your sittin' there looking at him, "YES MY M1330!" and then he trips and and falls in a mud puddle, and your m1330 is ruined.

    Just kidding.

My screen is grainy, but it has wonderful whites/blacks. The graininess also isn't noticeable in games.

Grainy? Why would it be grainy? Well anyways, the screen is awesome! I like the 1280x800 screen, I think its perfect for games and the desktop.

    This is madness!!!

Glad to hear you like it! I might go for one sometime too. Just wondering though why you installed Vista again? Did you do it to eliminate the bloatware that comes with the system?

You can upgrade to Ultimate through the anytime feature right?

Why not reinstall vista? fresh format is always best. Even if you get rid of the bloatware there's still the registry keys that aren't removed. Best to format and start fresh.

    Hey larson,

You used the discs that came with teh Dell? Doesn't it reinstall all the bloat ware? I know the VAIO my friend had did that, or did you have your own vista?

Nope, it does not have all the bloatware once you reinstall. Dell gives you a lot of CD's, so you are still able to install some of the software that originally came as bloatware (which i have done, because I liked some of the things that Dell provided). It's a very, very simple process. I'll think you guys to the thread I used, its very easy.

Just be sure to delete the Windows.old file after you finish reinstalling, because that file was over 10 GB's after I reinstalled.

They give you a Dell Reinstallation CD for the Vista you purchased. NOT a Windows Vista CD.

So when you do put in the Dell Reinstallation CD will it reinstall the bloatware aswell? or is it basicly a fresh vista install?

hmm so seems like 8600M GT really is significantly worse than the desktop 8600GT.
I'm curious about 8600M GT's performance in some more demanding games(i believe even a 8400M GS would run Doom3 fine, hell i think even a Geforce Ti4600 can run Doom3 just fine) like Oblivion, Rainbow Six Las Vegas etc.

unless Dell changed their policy in the past 2 weeks, than its just a clean Vista installation CD.

Well, relative to the scores someone else mentioned for the desktop 7950 card, those 8600m cards are pretty good I think.

I wouldn't expec it to beat it's desktop counterpart of course :) That's asking a lot of a mobile version.

    So i mean,
its not realy sharp. There is always a high brigthness all over the display.

please turn on screensaver (black) and than look at your display. in the bottom is very high brightness.

so i cant read the fonts in the taskbar really good.

edit: try to make a picture with digicam please.
    one with vista in foreground
    and one with black screensaver
