I Ordered An XPS m1530 With The Following Specs A Week Ago :
Intel Core2 Duo 2.5GHZ
8GB RAM / nVIDIA GeForce 8600GT / 500GB SATA HDD ( 5400 rpm )
Did Dell Do Anything Concerning The Faulty 8600 GPUs or Not
Because Returning It Back Isn't An Option ( Currently Staying in Middle East )![]()

Yes, the design of the 8xxx series was not really altered following the widespread overheating issues. Dell issued a Bios update that helps to prevent failure, but by no means fixes it.

Then I Hope I'll Be Lucky Enough ..
BTW The Following Thread Mentions That The Issue Has Been Fixed
by nVIDIA Last August

One Last Thing.. Even If I Won't Be Getting Overheating & Graphical Stripes And Other Signs Of GPU Falling Apart.. Would My 8600 Still Be Faulty !!??? -
There is ultimately no way to tell, unless nvidia has certain serial numbers of graphics cards that are affected, or certain dates, etc.
what you could try is overclocking it as far as it goes, and run some type of stressing tool, and see if its stable and if there are artifacts, downclocking, striping, or overheating.
read this: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=347892
and there is a heatsink mod for the 1530 on this forum and it seems pretty effective..id check it out.
good luck! -

I Really Hope So..
It's Because I Found Out That Here In Middle East The Prices Are Way Toooo HIGH And Very Very Very LOW QUALITY ( ALL ARE REFURB... And They Just Won't Tell You )
The Laptop Costs From Dell US ~1940$ + 200$( Overall Shipping + Local Taxes In Middle East ).
Here In M.E. The SAME SPECS FOR THE SAME LAPTOP Costs 2516$ (14 000 EGP ) + ( S**T Refurbished Product ) -
I am going to assume that yours will be just fine, also!
Be happy about your new 1530!~ And, Congrat's!

The problem that the affected Nvidia cards have is that they do not stand up to extended cycles of high/low temps (because the solder bumps are affected badly by high temps and thermal fatigue).
So you're not going to be able to see any sign of this just by running a single stress test. It will take months or years to know if you have a 'defective' card or not.
I Ordered An XPS1530 A Week ago.. Are The 8600GT Still Faulty ??!
