Hi everyone, I have been reading this forums a few days and have decided to buy an XPS M1330 in either Alpine White or Midnight Blue.

    These are the specs:
    Penryn 2.6GHZ 6MB Cache
    LED Screen
    3 GB RAM
    250 GB 5400RPM Hard Drive
    9 Cell.

    This is the price:
$2479 NZD. In USD, this is converted to US$1944

    Question
1: Is this a good price?
2: If not, are there any international Dell coupon codes I can use for New Zealand online orders? I have spent a lot of time on Google but I can't seem to find any for my part of the world.

    Thanks in advance

Well.. Price do depands on the tax structure of your country.. So directly converting the price to USD may not reflect the actual price.. confused??
ok let me explain..In India (I am from India) Tax on electronics goods are much higher than US. So the price of the same product seems to have expensive here in india.. so to calculate the actual price I did multiply USD of any product with50 (where actually 1USD = 39.60 INR) to get eqv INR.. You can do this if you know % of tax applied to the product in your country..
Now for Dell coupon.. As fad as I know there is no Dell coupons avaliable for asia specific country.. So you dont have luck there.. sorry

Oh yes, we have a 12.5% sales tax so I guess the price should be US$1728.

How does that sound for a price? It's a shame there don't seem to be coupons for here!!

I just configured a 1330 with the same specs on the US site...

    Intel Core 2 Duo T9500
    Vista Home Premium
    LED screen
    3 GB RAM
    250 GB HD
    9 Cell
    GeForce 8400m GS
    9 Cell battery

and it came out to be $2,234 before taxes and without any coupons. So, you seem to be getting a good price.

BTW, you can lower your cost substantially by selecting a different processor. Unless you're doing some intense encoding, you won't need the 9500. The T7520 will most likely be plenty powerful for your needs (it's a good processor) and it'll save you $475 (per the US site).

    Hey crash

Thing is, on the NZ site, the computer comes standard with a 2.2ghz Core 2. The upgrade is $175 NZD to swap for a Penryn 2.5ghz.

Although I don't really need the speed, I will almost certainly need the battery life, even if it just a 10% all-round increase. I just read a review on Anandtech and it seems there is a slight, but noticable increase of battery life with the Penryn's so I thought what the heck, may as well.

Edit: Most of the extra cost seems to be the warranty. Around $300 extra for DellCare Plus

One other thing I have been wanting to know is that if you choose the 9 Cell battery, do you also get the 6 Cell included anyway as a spare? Or would the laptop arrive with only one battery, namely the 9 Cell.

As fas as I know T9300 has significant lower price than T9500... So sacrifcing 1 MHZ for $ 150 is a good idea to me :D

True, but also remember these notebooks are not easily upgradable, so you need to futureproof yourself the best you can......

I doubt you'll utilize either of the two processors mentioned above to their maximum potential. Therefore, go for the cheaper one.

Any experience with the batteries? There doesn't seem to be an option to buy a 6 Cell together with a 9 Cell, just one or the other!

If you purchase the 9-cell, you do NOT get the 6-cell also unless it specifically says so.

On the US site you can purchase the 9-cell and 6-cell. See attached pic.
