    Hi,

I was about to but the m1710 dell notebook.
I am a photographer, I work with uploading and downloading images to my laptop and also, i use the p.c. to often showcase my work of to clients.

i would like to know if i am on the right track if i buy the m1710 XPS

    ,

i must have a 17 inch AND A DELL BRAND.

there is no question about it,

so, if i want the 17 inch by dell,

surely the 1710 xps is a great buy yeah??

i need a powerful laptop that looks very impressive to clients and
that will showcase some great graphics on the screen!!!

sound is also a imporant feature as i will have a mobile speakers
to carry with me ion my car
so i will be plugging them into laptop whjen at different houses / cleints/.

weight is not an issue to me!@!!!

pleae give youyr advice and remeber my point above.

p.s. - oi own the 9400 inspiron right now but i am returing it for replacemnemnt of the m1710
as the m1710 has a few more feature by default.(andi was not over happy with the web site graphics / photo graphics of the ati radeon card that it came with 256mb)

p.s. im not worried about the money factor., my budget is $3500

Well if you want an attractive & powerful 17 inch Laptop and with Dell then the XPS 1710 is pretty much your only choice.

But really if you are looking for looks, then there are numerous other brands that will be more sexy.

really the 9400 with a cover looks fine and certainly has enough power, and a ultra sharp true life screen, then clients are not going to be a worry.

We use Dell Inspiron & dimension laptops in our workplace, and for presentations use a Inspiron 9300 with truelife screen, which is 17inch widescreen, and I do not see anyone complaining.

And if you want simplicity with looks, then the Macbook Pro 17 inch would be your best bet.

I am writing on a Dell 9300 right now. The 17inch widescreen in itself, is the only thing people will be looking at.

what your saying all maks sense

    but i have to admit

while no one will complain as such about how good looking a p.c. is or not,

i kjust cant help thinking that the 1710 xps looks more modern and funky than any other dell.

as im a photographer, my market is young rich people
doing bday parties / red carpets etc so any way i can come accross as more trendy and astute, then ill do it.

people have already said how they love my 9400
i guess the xps will be even more impressive

You don't really need the power of the M1710 for photo editing etc. And the looks are more gamer than professional. The MacBook Pro is a really powerful and good-looking choice.

The Precision M90, Inspiron 9400 and XPS M1710 are more or less the same machine, with a bit more gamer-graphics in the M1710, and professional 3D graphics in the M90. Apart from that, it's mostly looks.
