10 times faster and cheaper, huh? Lol

I can get 3-4 hours with my 6 cell, my specs are in my sig, the whole thing will have cost me $1450 assuming dell follows up, although i will make sure they do.
Edit: remember the c90s get 81 minutes of battery life when not gaming. -
6.5lbs for a Dell or 5lbs for a MBP are the same too me, i'm not that weak yet.
yes thats correct though, theres no dedicated GPU in the 1501. but still i'm using the speakers, harddrives are spinning(P2P), wifi is on, and on 70-80% brightness. i think thats pretty good battery life. -
I cancelled my 1420 after some mixed reviews. I am currently looking at ASUS and MBP.
The customer service for dell isnt there when you want it, but once you cancel they call you 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 times.
Dont they get the picture when you cancel? -

You can always just insure it through your insurance agent, depending on how you do it and who you work with, i got accidental and theft for $35 a year.

For me when it comes to a bag with text books, power adapter, binder and various other things that extra pound and a half makes a difference to me. When it came to good battery life, gaming ability and weight there was very little that came close to the MBP in Canada.
Just for fun I specd out a 1520 to match the MBP on Dell.ca and it came out to almost 1600 bucks. It's kinda hard to justify buying a lesser laptop (my opinion) to save a $100 bucks.
Dells aren't bad laptops, but up here in Canada they aren't much better price wise than the MBP, and the support is horrible.
As an example, I was trying to get my shipping addressed changed with Dell. It took 4 hours on the phone, talking to one person after another to find out that my shipping address couldn't be changed by them. According to each one, the only person that could change my shipping address was some random CS guy in India that was assigned to me when I placed my order online. No one else could change the shipping address, and even calling his direct extension for two days (he never returned my calls or answered the phone) didn't work out.
With Apple, everything has been a breeze. Like I said, too each is own, but in my mind I got a good deal. If I was in the states though, I would probably think different with $350 off coupons and such.
As a side note, I got accident insurance for m MBP through my insurance company and it only costs me about 25 or 30 bucks a year . To extend the hardware warranty with Apple to 3 years, with apple care, is 300 bucks CAD. Pretty much what Dell charges up here for 3 year warranties. -

well actually its a bit more than $100, if you game you'll have to get Vista or XP which is another 100-200,, well unless you bootleg or your school offer some ridiculous discount, or you are a EE or EECS major and your school have MSDN AA.
Apples are not bad computers, just in the states they are way way too overpriced compared to PCs -
Edit: Assuming they follow through the final price will be $1450 instead of the $1600 in my sig. -
Thats my point, in Canada, Dell screws us hard (so does Sony, HP, and the rest by not letting us customize). In the States Dell is different, but up here they aren't worth the money....unless you get a 50-75% off mystery coupon.
As for Dell Small business, they are very easy to deal with but, once again price vs performance they aren't really worth the up here. -

I would actually probably go with an asus
-
Dal - you still haven't answered my question as to how you got a MBP for $1700. I did the calculations a couple pages back, where I showed that you would have had to sell the 4GB iPod Nano for $600...

Remember, i already chose an inspiron.

I've had very good customer service for my 1520, but with some bad times too (not many though).
I indeed liked my Dell Rep, who called me to tell me my laptop had been shipped, and another Dell Rep called me to make sure I got the $100 coupon that she awarded me over the phone. -
$1700 was before taxes, just like the Dells I priced out.
$1999 - 220 (IPOD sold) - 50 (additional discount for an order screw up. I said it was annoying, and he said well to make up for it I can give you 50 bucks off. I wasn't going to argue, and it didn't delay my shipping time either)
Came to just over $1700 before taxes, free expedited shipping as well. -
Not to pile on here (really), but your whole point of going with Apple was to avoid pathetic Dell Cust Svc. Ironically, it was poor cust svc from Apple that got you such a good price (albeit still higher than Dell)
Keep on buying anything AAPL, as often as possible tho -
-
Sad part is I didn't notice the printer rebate until after I had received my order. I am planning on calling Apple to see if I can still get it. I won't hold my breath though.
As for the good deal because of the screw up, as bad as this sounds, $50 bucks to me isn't a huge deal. I know I spend more than that on coffee during a 2 week period, so even if I hadn't have gotten that extra off I still would have considered it a good deal. The nice thing about the screw up was that it took one phone call, and 5 minutes to fix. Unlike Dell, where 4+ hours talking, and 2 days of waiting gave me no solution to my shipping address problem. -
If I can get an Asus V2S in the next 3 weeks, I'm cancelling my M1330 order (expected ship date 8/28). While I think the M1330 is a very nice machine, the lead time to have one built is ridiculous.
