thats impressive. Your fan is running constantly, isn't it? -
I was under the impression that you couldn't overclock the 16x.xx drivers. Could I bother you with some details about the software you used and if there was something special you needed to do to be able to overclock?
-
outstanding results!! I hope I can get mine up there, 4k+ and I'll be happy
-
Is there a way to overclock without some software running in the background? And how did you overclock with newer drivers?
-
Awesome job Chaos! I can only dream of those clocks. Mine poops out @ ~525 memory, so sad...
Did you do any volt mods or tweaking? I'd be curious how you were able to ramp up your mem clock so high, luck of the draw aside. Also, any way I could persuade you to run the 3DM06 @ default res for comparison sake?
Good job nonetheless!

Is that default resolution or no?

For testing the clocks w/ rivatuner, do I have to use another driver other than 156.66?
-
unclebrudy, is your 575/480 typical?
-
-
Hey Intel.
When you say "typical", do you mean for me or the general consensus?
If you meant me, then yes, that is my everyday setting. I can bench and play any game except Oblivion at 625core|525mem|1245shader, but I'm a tad uncomfortable playing at those clocks for too long- I played the UT3 demo and I've never felt the bottom of my laptop get so hot!
If you meant for most 8600 users, then I think my everyday is much more conservative, as I've seen people roll 670 cores and ~600 memory clocks 24/7. Then again, I tend to make myself feel better by telling myself that people are just flexing their e-pen!s and their actual 24/7 clocks are much lower. -

Why does Techpowerup CPU-Z say that "DirectX support" is 9.0c for a 8600M GT, shouldn't it say 10?
-
I am running windows XP.
-
I'm running vista and it says 9.0c
-
I think also it is because GPU-Z is still beta.
-
wow impressive man.. congrads there

I run mine at 590 / 490. I was stable at 605 / 510 but decided to back off a little bit just for peace of mind's sake. Backing off 15 / 20 MHz respectively won't affect performance much, but from a silicon standpoint can mean a world of difference.
I believe that this is the highest the 8600gt DDR2 can go.
