I ordered a Dell laptop on Monday 4/19 and used the paypal checkout. The confirmation email said the laptop would take 2 weeks. I called Dell and told them I need it sooner for an upcoming business trip and they upgraded to overnight shipping, but said there was nothing they could do about the pre-shipping part.

When I view my account on the Dell website it says Pre-Production. When I click on the actual order it says In Production and when I call the phone number it says order processed. So, I don't know which of those 3 stages it is in. Paypal shows the payment as pending and the money still has not been withdrawn from my bank account. Will changing it to a credit card order speed things up at this point?

    Hey!
Sorry for all your confusion that your having.
One thing with all the Order Status information you are having is that they will never "match up".. :(

I have found that Automated Dial, and hopping on Dell Chat will give you the best possible information. Try this number for Automated Dial (I had been keying in the wrong ##'s before): 1-800-283-2210 > Then: #4, #2, #1, #1, Then, Enter yoru Order Number when prompted and it will give you more information.

Also, I am fairly certain your order is in the Production Stage & your Credit Card does not get "Fully Charged" for your lappy' until it is completely finished, and is about to be Shipped to you. : )

There is a PreAuthorization hold put on your CC before it is put into Production (Pre Production), so that Dell can clarify the funds are availble for the purchase. Then, it will drop off ~ and your system will move into Production.

Hope that helps a bit! :)

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately the phone number tells me a different answer than the 2 places on the website.

I knew the laptop model (latitude e6500) I ordered was going to be discontinued soon, but it was discontinued 2 days after I ordered it. A couple days after that I found out about the Dell outlet. For the same price as the new laptop, there was one with much better specs and it is already put together. I canceled the new one and ordered the refurbished one.
