I was searching for a program to overclock my x1400. I started with atitool and it for some reason was showing my default clocks as 87 mhz, then i installed ati tray tools. I used the find max core option, and was greeted by a blue screen...
I pressed the power key nothing happened, then i closed the lid and i have kept the setting of the screen being turned off after closing the lid, that didnt happen.
I never took out my battery since i got my notebook, i did it and the pc shut down and then started it and it worked normally...

I want to know what exactly happened

Not sure what happened, but that is why overclocking laptops is never a good idea IMO. Too much stuff to keep from being overheated under regular circumstances, let alone trying to overclock which causes strain and heat on your components.

Yes, don’t overclock. Cooling is a major problem with notebooks. Even without O/Cing most dedicated cards run quite hot. Besides, you won’t notice a big difference either.

First of all dont use the auto find feature. It is VERY VERY risky to use it. Also you probably used a wrong ATI tools version.
