Ok, im trying to keep is as close to 1399 as possible, just so I can qualify for the 350 off. I will play the occasional game, but nothing serious. Maybe some half life and CS. But nothing newer. I will be editing photos and maybe a video here and there. But I will be using it 10-12 hours a day for school, watching movies and surfing the web. Do I want the 128 graphics card or should I up the screen resolution...both cost $100.

    thanks

Screen resolution: it will be always valuable, while your gfx will be beaten 1yr from now.

i say both, 2 important things that can't be upgraded later (get a sign and and stand on the corner - just have it say you need both parts and people will understand)

Well I can drop my 2 year warranty to 1 and get the $100 for both. I just don't know how much I like the idea of only having 1 year of warranty. I've got two kids that love to touch bright shiny things with lots of buttons.

Half Life and CS (assuming the originals) will run fine on the X3100. I'd say go for screen resolution as it seems the majority of the use will not be for gaming.

If you truly are not going to do much gaming, go for the higher screen resolution.

If you think you'll be playing any newer games (maybe games released during 2005 and newer), and you don't have a more powerful PC to play them on, then go for the graphics.

What I would do, personally, is drop the warranty and get both the higher resolution screen and the dedicated video card. Just be extra protective of your laptop, if you're worried about it.

The decision was made, i dropped the high res screen, kept the graphics, and bumped the warranty up to 2 yrs.

And, if I was set on keeping the two-year warranty, that's what I would have done, too. :)

But that's only because I'm a gamer, after all.

i would of gotten the led/video card and dropped the 2 year, you have a full year to upate that warranty if you ever want to - theres no updating the video card

I don't think he's getting the M1330 as he mentions a resolution upgrade, which is not possible with the M1330.

    What?!?!?!?!

CS:S and HL2 would have run fine!!! Why did you do that?!?!?

Still as you say the decision has been made - nothing you cand do about it - your loss.

yah i would of said - a video card is a much better option then a little better resolution, i personally didnt like the x3100 at all when i had it - sent it back and got the video card with hdmi - now waiting again for th m1330

the reason I got the vcard instead of resolution is because I have my desktop at 1280x1000 (or what ever it is) and I don't want anything smaller. The smaller the resolution the smaller the letters and the more I have to strain to read. I don't want tiny letters, but I do want my movies, pictures, videos, and windows vista, to run smoothly and i spoke to a rep and he said the benefits of a vcard outway a higher resolution.
