    I have a Dell Inspiron 640m...

    ...and when I shut the lid to my laptop it goes black, like it's supposed to but when I reopen it, it is still black. The desktop never comes back. I can hear sounds from me pushing buttons and clicking, but you can't see nothing. Anyone have a solution or any idea what is up? Thnx.

    I'd try reinstalling your video drivers. That should solve it. If that doesn't work, I'm not sure where to go next other than a reformat.

    It doesn't sound like a hardware problem though.

    Oh, alright cool. I just reinstalled windows xp on it and it couldn't find none of the drivers, so I had to manually install them. I still have a few to install.
