Last Saturday, I odered a Inspiron 9300! Thank god I ordered it before the coupons got terminated! I own my own business, and Dell is the only computer I will buy. Three weeks ago, I bought a Inspiron 6000, and I loved it so much, I decided to buy a 9300 as well, and let one of my employees use my 6000. I also have 3 8300, and 3 8400. All of them, except for one 8300, have been great computers, and I havent had any problems with them.

My 8300 has started to run slow, so I was wondering if any of you guys can suggest anything. I have two spyware programs, and I scan my computer often, so I dont think thats the problems. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Anyways, my 9300 specs are as follows:

    1.73 Ghz Pentium M
17" WUXGA Monitor with TrueLife (I know the screen might not be the best, but the business is buying it)
    Nvidia 6800 GO
    2915 Wireless W/Bluetooth
    80G HDD
1 G RAM (I know you can get the cheaper package if you buy the RAM yourself, but once again, the company is paying, and I heard the RAM from Dell is better quality)

I also got a one year warranty and one year complete care, but Im seriously thinking about bumping this up to two.

I used a $750 Off coupon I found on techbargains.com and the total price came to $1430.

I tried using the 45% off coupon, but they didnt let me use it with the configuration I wanted. They wouldnt let you choose video cards (128MB only) and they made you buy 3 years of antivirus @ $119.00, which is a ripoff. I got a better deal with the $750. I think I got a good deal.

Its gonna be weird without the coupons, thank god I ordered and didnt wait!

I cant wait to watch a DVD on this sucker!

Congrats on your new purchase. It is definately worth paying more for the Nvidia GeForce Go 6800 card and the performance is much higher than the ATI X300. Have fun when it comes in.

hey, the 8300 is probably aging a bit at this point and sometimes it gets to a point where the OS just needs to be reinstalled after a pc has gone through a couple of years of installing/uninstalling programs and unplanned shut downs and other stuff that tends to just bog down the OS. The fact you say there's two spyware programs running might sort of be a problem in and of itself, spyware programs run in the background and use processor time and if you can find a way to control when they run or how much processor utilization they're allowed to take, then that'd help...sometimes if you have an antivirus program like mcafee on an old machine it can steal processor cycles from an application you're working with and wish would run faster!

Thanks for the help. Im thinking Im just gonna reformat the hard drive, reinstall windows, and be done with it. Hopefully, this will solve my problems. I might just get a new 9100 (I think thats what the new models are), but I keep hearing about these dual core processors, and 64-bit windows. Does anyone know when the next generation of Pentiums is coming out? How about the next version of Windows? If its soon, I wanna wait to get a new desktop.

The Next Version of Windows is Vista, which the 32 bit should come out first and the 64 bit after. Vista should be in the market late 2006

intel has 64 bit right now in the 6xx sequence Pentium 4's, and the Xeon CPU's have recently picked up the EMT64 as well.

Don't expect a Pentium M like processor to have 64 bit until at least the spring.

Windows Vista will be released around next holiday season. :D

    Chaz

Most people will see no difference with dual core processors or 64 bit operating systems

You could throw a faster hard drive in the 8300. That will speed things up.
