    It has three problems:

    1. The aluminum palm rest gives me a tingling sensations...which I have called for and have asked that they send me a grounded power supply.

    2. There is a bulge in the center of the keyboard...it's not major, but I notice it.

    3. The camera sticks out a bit and the monitor frame is not flush.

Now...when people spend as much as they do to buy these XPS laptops, do the people building them not inspect them before they are shipped out? Where is quality control?

I am tempted to keep the laptop for almost a year and then ask for a replacement just before my complete care runs out, but then again I might just get them to ship a new one now. But I do not want to be without a laptop for a week or so while they are fixing or replacing my gimped laptop.

It seems that the three issues I have listed lots of others have complained about so you think that Dell would address these once the got enough calls regarding them.

    I'm sorry. :(

If I were you, I think I'd have Dell ship me a replacement right away.

Well...if that is the case then I am going to give them a call and get a replacement shipped out.

I just hope the one they send out is in better shape than the first one :)

Just get the new one now no sense in having a laptop you don't like for a year.

Well...I have spent over an hour trying to get the replacement...this is so painful. I have called in 3 times and keep getting bounced around.

I thought XPS support was supposed to be better support???

That's what I've heard, as well. But you never know. Sometimes you get a good response, sometimes not.

Well...they have hung up on me for the third time...I am done for now...I will try back later.

Technical Support sends me to Customer Service to get the replacement sent out, but Customer Service sends me back to Technical Support because they can't ship out a replacement???

This is a waste of my Saturday!

Call back on a m-f 9-5 hours. You should have better luck.

First of all, the tingling is NORMAL for the m1530s, just get a 3-way plug and that'll solve the problem.

For keyboard bulge, there was a thread about it, and every dell 1530 owners has it...so don't sweat, for it is BARELY noticeable (least I don't)

For the camera....WTF? It sticks out? how the hell is your camera sticking out? Isn't it embedded INSIDE the lid? You mean that your lid is cracked open? Get a replacement is that's the case, if not, then just don't bother. It is a poor camera anyways, and I for one even uninstalled the driver for it.....don't bother....get a logitech external if you really want a high quality cam...

New power supply is on its way. If this is a known issue, why not send a grounded power supply to start with? Cheaper than having to pay for the technicians time and shipping costs.

Ya...the bulge isn't terrible, but noticeable. The camera part is the worst.

The bulge I mean is the camera is pushing on the black bezel and I can see it flexing outwards. And there is separation between the top of the black bezel in front of the camera and the red casing that forms the lid. There should not be a gap...right??? I wish the model came without a damn camera and there would be less hassle.

And I just checked the packing slip and noticed that I was shipped a Samsung screen:

    Module,Liquid Crystal Display 14.4WSXGA+,Samsung,M1530

But the screen looks fine, what is it that people tend to notice on the Samsung screens? What are grainy screens?

If it looks fine, maybe it is. Maybe your particular screen has no graininess.
A large proportion of 15" Samsung screens seem to have graininess (or other problems like bad colors, yellowishness, or uneven backlighting). But there are some people who get Samsung's and say they are fine. Individual screens vary.

So I'm not the only guy who has gotten the runaround from the various "service" departments at Dell? I was getting a complex for a while.

I think everyone who has ever called for something that would cause a company to lose money has gotten bounced around, put on hold for an hour, hung up on, and talked to someone who has short term memory loss.

Call and ask for returns, the people in this dept will do just about anything to make sure you don't send the laptop back for a refund, and will process a claim to build you a new replacement while you use the one you now have.Don't let them talk you into replacement parts or tech coming to tear the laptop apart,if you stand your ground, you will get a new laptop.
