Ok so I just reformatted XP Pro on my Inspiron 6000.

Now I put in the drivers CD but it says it doesn't actually install them it just shows what you need.

Also my internet will not connect at all and what before was as simple as plugging in a LAN line from anywhere now no longer works. It won't let me set up a connection or repair the connection.

Also when I click shut down, the Hibernate button is no longer there.

    Any advice?

    Thanks,
    Mitch

you need network drivers for the internet. the braodcom 440x ones. also, you have to pretty much load all the drivers for everything you use.

you have to turn hibernate on. its under display properties in power.

First, when you insert the drivers cd...you have to click on the driver and scroll down. You will see a button that stays execute or install. This will install the driver.

Like doobie said, you need to get your ethernet or wireless driver. Both are located on the CD. If you have problems installing from the CD you can go to dell's website and download them there. http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

hibernate needs to be turned on. You can do this by right click on a blank area of your desktop. Select properties-->screensaver tab-->power-->last tab, enable hibernation. You also might need to update windows. I've had this happen when i had sp1, and needed to get sp2 a few weeks ago.

Thanks...I was just missing those drivers on the cd I made from the website.

I just panicked because nothing was working and I freaked out so sorry for the bother and thanks for the help.
