Well, I have had my laptops for almost 2 months now. It was running fairly well, now it seems to only get hotter by the day. I upgraded from the 512 dell ram to 2gb of ocz ram from newegg and the bottom of the notebook (where the ram is) gets unbelievably hot. Well, I wouldnt complain but when im playing WoW it has given me about 8 blue screens telling me there is a memory parity error (this is in the past day).. Yeah, I have been playing WoW a lot, but so has my friend here and he has a older XPS system (gen 2 or older I forgot). He hasn't had one problem. What's wrong with my computer? What should I do? Should I call Dell and request a fan? Should I send the notebook back for a replacement? Help please...I do like this notebook because it's nice, I just want it to work normally.

1. you installed new memory
2. you're getting memory errors

Faster ram produces more heat.
There are two possibilities here. Either, the ram is defective (and the temperatures are nothing to do with it), or the ram works, but gets so hot it gets unstable.
So since I doubt you can do much to cool it, you can either underclock it (definitely helps on the heat part, and *might* also solve stability issues), or take it out entirely. -
One thing about the ram on Dell is the location sucks. RAM module is the hottest part of the laptop on all of the larger inspirons - mine has actually burned me before. I would get a laptop cooler (i believe there are some that you can use while your laptop is on your lap - but not 100% sure).
If that doesn't help, then run memtest to see if any errors pop up. -

contact OCZ and ask them for a workaround
also maybe a 667mhz RAM (instead of 533 which you have) may help
there are always cooling systems you can implement - and if your name ends with McGyver -
I was thinking a laptop cooler. Drumfu, i've ran memtest many times...off and on errors...Then i did single stick tests and no errors so i think it's due to heat. It's 533 speed ram. Im running my fans on high with fangui. I put my hand next to the left fan, it feels like it's running on high while the right side one doesnt feel like it's doing anything

hehe, my inspiron has 'stepping' so when the comp needs the power, it uses it, else it will run at lower speed. Use NHC and set to dynamic switching. I have a 9300 ( = E1705) and it was heating up until i installed NHC and it became much better.
I knew it...help please
