Look folks...i know why our notebooks are taking so long

I have counted on this site and a few other sites combined that as of right now "that i have seen" including a few college classmates

17..let me repeat 17! Laptops Exactly the same as "Mine" the the same "Exact" configurations have been shipped...or received

    The kicker?

All of them were ordered "After" me and "After" the Free RAM and Hard drive upgrades...and Also "cost more"

Its no secret the prices of these notebooks have gone "Up" since us June and July Folks ordered them

why is it people ordering later are getting them sooner?

Because Dell is "losing money" on the offers they made to us July folks. So they are making us wait as long as possible in hopes that we cancel...in other words they are purposly screwing us....it makes perfect sense

why send me mine, when the cost of mine is less, but my buddy ordeed his 2 and half weeks ago..paid more for the same exact thing, and got his allready...it makes no sense

the only logical solution is because he paid more for his than i paid for mine...its obvious

To make it even more obvious...i talked to a rep on the phone..when informing her of it..and telling here these accusations...she Stumbled and began mumbling...i could hear her tone changed quickly and she tried to hurry me off the phone

I think i have finally gotten to the bottom of this whole mess

Dell is "Purposely" screwing us june and july folks on purpose

My Whole system including my carry case, laptop, the whole 9 yards came to 1099 dollars with tax

now the "same exact" set up is 1630 before taxes

here is screenshot to prove it

people who are ordering now are getting theres much more quickly

us who ordered when they had the free hard drive and ram upgrades are getting left behind and are left waiting much longer

seems like the only way to get your notebook is to agree to all delays and since they allready took your monye, you just got to force their hand....

quite sad really...if they are losing money they never should have offered it

what a sad state of affairs...

seems like the Truth hurts....this has left a serious bad taste in my mouth...i was hoping this wasn't true..that Dell would not resort to such unethical downright illegal business practices...illegal but hard to prove in court i guess...but i know their doing it...

this will be my last dealings with this company that is for sure....

if that is true, what your saying, the the s*** dell is f******* with our orders.if they actually did that, and we could provide some solid proof, then dells rep could be ruined.that would be the best thing as of now that could happen to dell.they want us to cancel our orders?!why didnt they put a sign up saying"CANCEL YOUR ORDER, OR WE WILL DELAY YOU UNTIL YOU GIVE UP.PLEASE NOT, WE WILL CANCEL YOU ORDER DUE TO US LOSING OUR MONEY FOR THE STUPID SALE WE PUT UP.THANK, AND ORDER WHEN OUR PRICES ARE UP.

    not a few thousand

    think about this

lets say the average price difference per use is 600 dollars(as in my example)

lets say worldwide..4 million ordered these notebooks

there is 240 Million dollars Dell just saved"ie pocketed" for the same users being replaced by more expensive notebooks

it's no secret later orders are going out earlier

    it makes perfect sense

a 240 million dollar hit would probably put them out of business

so they are delaying hope atleast 60% that ordered during the sale cancel..and they use their geuine excuses and in time people will forget and Dell saved itself in the most part..its profit maximization

they would be better off for all those orders to be canceled than to ship them...honestly

go build youe exact order at Dell's site right now

you will see a big difference

the sale folks like me, heck dell was practiclly giving it away...

then they are probably canceling them themselves, and not due to ftc rules. if this is true, and proved in court, dell is officially out of business.WOOHOO!

I don't know about you but I think your theory is wrong. This is a company's worst nightmare and a PR disaster. They clearly want to ruin their reputation.

They would save somewhere between 240 and 320 million+ dollars if everyone who ordered during the sale canceled

Dell is losing market share, and people are bailing on them

HP replaced them as the lead PC manufacturer...Dell is losing money according to the latest stock reports...

You know what, this is insanse, imagination gone wild. You're just trying to find a way to direct your frustration of the shipment delays. A big company like this is smart enough not do that. They still make some profit, wether the notebook is $1000 or $5000. Just to give an example, my $2600 1720 was ordered mid July, it was delayed many times, and is not expected til mid September.

trust me a company would rather take a $240 million profit dent considering thats a quarter of the last quarters profits than have another PR diester, a dent in profits can be regained but a fall in demand and cosumer confidence would cripple the company.

Totally agreed. C'mon, folks, this is silly. There are plenty of threads dealing with more productive ways to address your frustration, e.g., getting compensation from Dell for the delays. Crazy conspiracy theories aren't helpful.

Your order is over $1600 which I would say is on the high of average for a Dell.

Don't forget the $300 coupons had a limit of like 4,000 uses, and the prices vary GREATLY from region to region, you can hardly call the $600 you saved the norm.

Yeah, I don't think they want people to cancel and reorder more expensive laptops, I think they're just FINALLY backing off on pushing so hard to get sales because they had too much success and their production wasn't prepared for how popular the colored laptops would be--which DUH, look at how popular the freakin' colored ipods are. They are just trying to not get any more swamped than they already are, and offering more sales and promotions would just get them deeper in the pit rather than working their way out.

No conspiracy, just very poor planning on their part to not do the preliminary paint runs using the same process they were ACTUALLY going to use so they could make SURE it was going to work, and the parts shortages which are affecting everybody, not just Dell customers, look in other manufacturer threads like Lenovo and there are waits there too for custom config machines.

Not to mention, when I talked to the re-order dept. the rep told me that I could cancel and re-order another colored bezel to try and get it quicker. I specificall asked if I could get the same pricing as when I placed the order(free ram, hard drive, $300 off) he said of course.

Yea, put when has productivity and common sense been associated with conspiracy theorys? Don't be a party pooper.

By the way my July 26th Inspirion came to ~ $1680.00 after taxes and the same config now is ~ $2400.00, but then I didn't look for any coupons to apply either.

Called a few minutes ago - Shipped to Local Carrier, great on Friday before a 3 day weekend, looks like it will be in hand next week ( see I can still find something to ***** about). :D

That's a very good point- but my criticism stands, because, frankly, OP's conspiracy theory isn't very interesting. Besides, everyone knows that the REAL reason for the delays Dell is secretly using our order money to send the notebooks we've ordered to Costa Rican guerillas fighting to topple the corporate structure at Sears and replace them all with left-handed armadillo trainers. Connect the dots, man, connect the dots!

Well I'm not sure about the theory being correct but I can tell everyone that the CSR's are no longer trying to keep you as a customer. When I mentioned I didn't want to wait and to cancel my order the CSR was more than happy to cancel it.
The reason for cancellation was a 2 week delay when I was already in boxing. (according to the status line) The CSR stated that I was still in production and not to pay attention to the status line. He said I was waiting on the CPU still. Full details can be found on P21. of the 1520 midnight blue waiting room thread.

Judging by the service I have received from Dell's "Customer Care," I'd say they do not care much for their reputation. Well, at least they do not care much about their reputation as far as I am concerned. Not once have they kept their word and contacted me about any of the delays I've had, even when they promised to several times. One time the gal calls me about the delay right after I got off the phone with her and she had just told me about it! Sheesh ... pllllleeeeaaaasssseeee ...

I tried to re-order to get a different color and the rep REFUSED to give me the same price, saying that the promotion was over. There was a $400 difference in price for me, so I just stayed with what I ordered and as of now am finally in the BOXING stage!! :D

I don't want to appear to be attacking you personally, but your numbers are wrong and reasoning absurd.

Global notebook shipments in 2007 are estimated at around 90 million units. Assuming Dell's notebook market share is in line with its overall PC market share of ~16%, that translates into 14.4 million units shipped by Dell for all of this year. So, your assumption that 4 million laptops were ordered in that span of a month is wrong. Further to assume that everyone who ordered at that time got the sort of deal you did even more wrong.

$240 million would put them under? How do you figure, for a company that just make over $700 million in one quarter?

As much as the conspiracy theory of yours makes 'sense' to you, it's most likely inaccurate.

Why would dell want you to "cancel" your order? They go from losing some money, to losing all of your money.

You have any idea how much money it REALLY costs Dell to make your $1000 laptop? If you did, your post would be far longer than this. Generally Dell markups are around 40% maybe 30% with those deals.

You know that Dell can't really write in these sales as profits til you actually receive your unit. This is because at anytime you can cancel your order and receive a full refund. Accounting 101.

Like what an earlier poster said, any business man would rather hold on to their customers than hurt their confidence and scare away future customers.

Come on man. I've seen far better conspiracy theories than this.

All the notebooks have to ship eventually meaning that dell would not be saving any money by shipping later orders earlier as stated...I see paranoia on your part lol. Do I think whats happening is right?...No, however they obviously highly underestimated their new machines. Same exact configs, still end up with different product numbers as well, so that could have somehting to do with it...It happens.

Yes which is what i stated at the end, however the start was in answer to the guy who thinks that $240 million wouldnt effect any company which is false.
