    1. I messed around with Media Direct for 5-10 minutes. It's not something I will ever use. Am I missing something with Media Direct?

    2. So, I don't need the media direct partitions and I would kill them. I can put them back on later when I go to sell the laptop in a year or two? I need a CD from Dell? What CD do I ask for?

Is the only other negative thing that my Media Direct button will go dead? I can live with that.

Assuming I really have no interest in Media Direct, is it still a mistake to kill it?

    Thanks.

You will need the MediaDirect CD from Dell. The mediadirect button will be dead as you mentioned. I don't really understand why you would want to get rid of it--MD doesn't take up very much space.

True. I'm not hellbent for killing it.

Mostly, it's a neat clean thing. I like the idea of one partition. If I'm gonna format and partition, I might as well claim the space.

    Right now I have:

    1. Media Direct
    2. 145GB of my OS and stuff.
    3. Media Direct
    4. A 5GB partition just stuck out there. I gave it a drive letter and installed some games on it.

hi there everyone, anyone out there have the mediadirect 2 installer or iso with them, can anyone pls post it so that people can get it here instead of ordering it from dell,it would really help a lot of people having this same problem of dell not providing the installation cd of media direct 2, i have an inspiron 6400 laptop, just bought it a couple of days ago but it does not have an os and mediadirect 2 the only thing it have is a cd for the drivers, which by the way does not have the md2 installer,so if anyone can really do me a favor here and let me download the md2 installer that would be a grate deal to many

    thanks guys

    cheers

Right, well I meant that it would be dead as far as for its intended use. You're 100% correct that if you depress it while the system is on, Windows Media Center will pop up.
