Well I decided on the e1705 because its the most economic system I can offord for gaming! I need your guys opinion on which upgrade is not really that gr8 and not worth the money! I need to get rid off one these upgrade choices :)

First theres the processor upgrade from

    T2400 (1.83ghz dual core) to a T2500 (2.0 ghz dual core) Cost - $200

512mb ram to 2 gigs of ram (buying off NEW EGG) Cost - $150

    17 inch Wide Screen XGA+ to a 17 inch UXGA Cost - $149

    256MB NVIDA Go 7800 to a 256MB NVIDIA Go 7900 GS Cost - $150

Your Opinions are gr8ly appreciated!!!!!!! So please post, thanks.

i'd say either dump the cpu upgrade and/or the LCD if you don't like a high res LCD.

    keep the ram and vidcard.

    T2400 (1.83ghz dual core) to a T2500 (2.0 ghz dual core) Cost - $200

I would say wait a while because they said duel core prices will drop (in this case your 2.0 will cost the same as 1.83 saving you $200). They are making room for their new duel core, i believe they said the price would drop by the end of this month or the next.

512mb ram to 2 gigs of ram (buying off NEW EGG) Cost - $150

This depends on how many mhz that ram is. I'm going for 1 gig because most games doesn't require that high but its up to you.

    17 inch Wide Screen XGA+ to a 17 inch UXGA Cost - $149

i would keep this, makes the screen look a lot better.

    256MB NVIDA Go 7800 to a 256MB NVIDIA Go 7900 GS Cost - $150

I'm shooting for the 7900 because it saves power = longer gaming time and the 7800 had head issues. But its up to you.

l would keep everything the same but get a T2400 instead of the T2500. A $200 upgrade with nearly no noticeable improvements is not worth it.

Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/g Mini Card (54Mbps) is it worth the 29 bucks????? Doknow? this is my first notebook so hopefully it will be good before I leave for college at the end of JUNE :)

it's not an issue of better; it's an issue of personal preference. WUXGA is high res; everything is crisper and sharper, but smaller.

Which i prefer. Btw, did you read my previous post? If you wait a little longer, you can get both the cpu and lcd upgrade because duel core prices will drop.

From what a Dell rep told me the price drop will not affect any of the current Dell models. The price of all the computers will stay the same. This price drop will only be seen by people buying the processors themselves. Dell plans to not drop in price due to the fact they get the very cheap as it is. Again I heard this from a Dell Rep that seemed to care about getting me the best deal possible and really laying out what I didn't need so I trust his answer. He didn't even want me to buy a computer, but just liked to shoot the breeze.
