    Good day guys,

I need some friendly advice from you guys.

The thing is that there's this guy from http://trademe.co.nz (New Zealand eBay look alike) selling a M1710 laptop with the following specs,

    C2D 2.33ghz
    2gb RAM
    160gb 5,400RPM HD
    512mb 7950 GTX
    No bluetooth
    VISTA Ultiamte 32

He offered me a good price for it, $3,900 NZD ($2,580 USD). It's not refurbished nor 2nd hand one, he's sourcing it from Dell Factory (according to him, I do trust him since he seems sincere and always willing to help me out). But what troubled me was that it was manufactured before October, that means Media Direct doesn't have it's own partition HD right? And aside from Media Direct modification, is there else modified along with it after October?

Since I want XP Pro, bluetooth and other extra stuff with it (Personalization shield) he suggested that I should buy one from direct from Dell, but the specs like his one would probably cost around $5,500 NZD ($4,000 USD) and I'll get the Media Direct partition and probably new build. I mean $1,400 NZD is alot of savings.

I'm confused and I don't know what I want. I'm not really after Santa Rosa, since I can just get a high-end Desktop with VISTA Ultimate + DX10 + High-end graphics card later on. I just thought M1710 would be a good desktop replacement for me since I'm working and studying at the same time, and has to transfer 2 different houses every once in awhile.

What should I do? Should I buy one from the guy who is selling it cheap as? or I should get one direct from Dell? What would you do if you're in my shoes?

    Thanks alot.

    Great forums BTW. God speed.
