The problem with this situation is I dont know if Dell warranties will trasfer to new owners. You will need to find that out. As long as the laptop is not more then a year old (aka 1yr warranty) You should be able to get it replaced, given that the warranty Is transferable to you.

thats the chances when you buy from ebay, even though it wasnt open, you might not be able to contact Dell for it.

If it has been within 21 days of the person that bought it, and then sold it to you, then you will be able to refund it im sure of.

If not, you can contact Dell, and im sure they will send a replacement out

the warranty should be trasnferable as long as the seller is following dell's guidelines by not selling you a new computer.

just call Dell with the Service Tag and they should get you going. you may need the Seller to talk to Dell as well.

thanks for your replies, i took care of everything and dell is going to replace the screen. i just had to give them the name of the previous owner to register the laptop under my name. thanks again.

Wish you luck. If the scratch was caused by the previous owner. Dell will not honor the warranty.
