I need opinion for 3-years old used Dell Inspiron 8100 sale price.

    Dell 8100 Specs:
    Windows 2000
    Pentium III
15 inch SuperXGA+ (no dead pixels)

    10GB HD
    56k Modem (no network card)

    Hi genghis,
When I want to find the value of a used item I go to Ebay and do a search for it under "completed items". To look at completed items you need to sign in under your account. The reason for looking here is that anyone can list an item for any price, but if it sold then you have a value that someone bought it for. By looking at several of these you can come up with a close value of what it's worth. I went ahead and looked for you. I don't know the speed of the CPU in the notebook your thinking of buying, but to give you an idea. I found several model 8100 notebooks with 1.0 GHz CPU, 256MB ram and 30GB hard drive with the same other specs at the cost of right at $350. So, since the one your looking at is only 10GB, I would offer them $325 for it if the CPU is a 1 GHz. If it's a 1.3GHz then go $350 or if less that 1 GHz like 800-850MHz then the max I would go is $300. The seller may think it's worth more, but that's what the market bears. Afterall, to make it usefull with XP since win 2000 won't be supported to much longer, you will need to get a bigger hard drive and more memory. Plus it is 3 years old, they don't run forever and it's at the point where stuff is going to start breaking.

    Hope this helps

    Bootleg2go,

Thank you for your time and search, you are absolutely correct Dell will not run forever plus I just learn battery is not good (runs only 50min) and needs to be plug in most of the time. So I will offer $200 or $225 max.
    Regards

That sounds like a good price, I didn't even think about the battery. A new battery can cost you up to $100 and it needs to be considered as well[ :)]
