    ok, two things.

first: i replaced my cracked screen (glossy, the original that came with the computer over a year ago) with a new one (matte, didn't fit completely. had to take some metal off top and bottom but it works). My problem is now that it's installed, i can't really adjust the brightness. There are a couple points on the adjustment scale where it brightens and dims, but it's only a slight difference. the only thing that i can think of is that I didn't replace my inverter when i replace the screen... i don't know though...

second: a while ago, my front media buttons (mute/volume control/previous/stop, etc...) stopped working, or so i thought. turns out, volume control works, and if i make my media player the active application, the track buttons will work. however, before they started freaking out, i could press the next track button anytime and it would skip the track. my quesiton is: is there a way to get that back (by 'that' i mean pressing next in any active app and skipping the track)?? not as important as the first question, but it's kinda annoying...

The backlight control issue is related to your inverter. Did your new display include an inverter that you left out? If so, I would install that inverter. Otherwise, try and acquire an inverter made for your particular display.

As for the media buttons not working while your media player is inactive...what media player? If it's iTunes, I have a useful .dll file that will enable the media buttons to control it while it's in the background.

the display didn't come with an inverter, so i guess i need to acquire one for the matte display, right?

and the media player is JetAudio. It came with my mp3 player, and i really like it. I've also used WinAmp in the past, and liked that as well.
