Sorry to interrupt, but the XPS isn't exclusively US based anymore. I had to deal with a few India reps when I owned my XPS M140. That could have changed in the last few months and I wouldn't know though.

However, I'm going to speculate that the XPS support teams were promoted from the Inspiron teams. This is based solely on my personal experiences troubleshooting that M140 and an old I9100 that is still under warranty.

Thanks for the news, I wasn't sure, that's why I said primarily...When I had my xps m140 my only experiences were with US support. Kind of a shame, considering they promote their XPS line as a step above-"white glove service".

I'm glad I have a thinkpad after hearing all of the tech-support horror stories. :)

Well, I'm fairly certain that if you were to ask to return the notebook or you kept asking for supervisors you might get what you're looking for.

Their voice routing systems rarely care about the location of the rep picking up. That system usually just cares about getting you off the line to a rep ASAP. Never mind if the rep is US/India, Good/Bad, Incompetent/Competent.

I'm still convinced that the XPS support is better than the Inspiron support though. It is just they could still improve...that's all.

If you have a genuine issue that wasn't fixed the first time you talked to your support rep, use the "unresolved issues" link from your dell support homepage. You will get a response within one business day, and it will be from someone who has the authority to fix your issue provided it is within dell's company guidelines. BTW, all of the agents who have helped me through this channel spoke/typed perfect english.

That includes all of the phone numbers for US base. The problem is that most of the contact numbers do go to call centers in India. I don't think Dell publicly lists actual numbers to call centers in the US.

As for the XPS discussion - they use to have a special XPS tech support number that you called and then had to enter all of this information in. That would transfer you to a representative in the US.
