Ok guys, I have gotten a lot of help here, and narrowed down my choices. I would like your input on the final specs I should go with based on what I will be using the laptop for. This notebook will be used mainly for my business, and I will be doing basic office applications on it and numerous tasks on the internet with multiple IE windows open at once. I will watch an occasional dvd on it from time to time, and may play a game or two, mainly just Tiger Woods PGA Tour.

    Option 3 or 5.

They don't have the integrated GPU.

Option 4: processor is weaker, no point in getting a slower CPU than a graphics card

3, but with an upgraded video card; Actually it will really matter which version of Tiger Woods PGA Gold you have. 05' and above you might want to get a better video card

yeah, it would be tiger woods 08, which is what worries me. I don't know what type of video card that will require.

Please note that the 5th option should be the VOSTRO, but I can't change it. If a mod comes around, if you could change it, I would appreciate it.

For now, just use option 5 if you think I should go with the vostro.

    Thanks.

I have the (option 3) T7300 and x3100 in my D630 (business use only), and it absolutely screams through office 2007 and Acrobate Professional 8 ... like 10 or 12 windows at a time, plus net windows. You can't go wrong.

I voted for option three but I didnt see option 5 which is the vostro. Option 5 seems the all around best.

    Yeah, I posted that above....

Option 5 should be the vostro, but I can't edit the poll, and I messed it up.

Haha dude, when money isn't coming out of our pockets, of course we'd all vote for the best config...

That is probably your best option though.

All of those configs are within about 25 dollars of each other.

If you've noticed from the specs, the L2 processor cache doubles from 2 MB to 4 MB when you add the T7300. So I'd recommend that you choose this processor because you will notice a considerable boost in performance over the T7100. The AMD and the 5450 aren't even in the same league as the 7300.

I pretty much only play Tiger Woods PGA Tour also and I'm looking at similar specs. With Vista you'll want at least 128 mb of dedicated video ram.

T7300 is probably the most cost effective CPU there. It is 2.0 ghz which is more than enough. The 4MB cache and 800 front side bus are very good; Santa Rosa processor as well. If it was, let's say a choice between T7300 and T7500, I would still go with the T7300 because they both have a 4MB cache, 800FSB, and T7500 is only 0.2ghz faster. Negligible.

you should take opt 3, but change the video card to either 128 mb or 256 mb nvidia geforce 8400m gs
