Are you planning to upgrade to 2GB of RAM or just sticking to 1GB?

Because I'll be running Win XP I planned to stay with 1G. Mistake?? My desktop only has 512 and it pretty well handles whatever I throw at it......

I was just curious. RAM prices are just so cheap now that it wouldn't hurt to add another 1GB stick in there, but XP doesn't have superfetch like Vista does so it might be a waste for you.

I got the 1Dimm. Does that affect the speed?

Yes. If you got 1Dimm, spend the extra 30 and get the extra gig from Frys :)

i would also like to know the answer to this. i remember asking a friend, and he said its better to split it up into two slots, since its dual channel. he could be wrong, which is why i'd like to know from people here.

If you can get dual channel, then that's great. However, you'll get much better performance from more RAM than from dual channel.

Not really. Like has been said, since an extra 1GB stick is about $30 from Newegg, you'd do well to buy one for 2GB total and dual-channel. Especially given the Intel integrated graphics, which steal system memory.

I looked at their site...Are you talking about:
    "Transcend 1GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Notebook Memory - Retail 31.99"

Is it hard to install? Does it affect the warranty?
