I recently purchased an Insprion 9300, a week or so before the new XPS came out. Since I will use my laptop primarily for gaming, I have a few questions about my setup.

I maxed out all of the options when ordering, I have the 2.13 GHZ processor, the 256 MB GeForce 6800 (non-ultra), 100 GB 7200 RPM HD, 2 GB ram.

Since the new XPS came out a week after I ordered, I did not know there was the GeForce 7800. I'm just wondering whether or not its possible to upgrade my 9300 to the GeForce 7800, or whether I need to buy the XPS.

Also, how much of a difference will the cards make in regards to next generation games?

dell is not offering the go 7800 gtx for the 9300.

i think the 7800 is 3x the power of the 6800 non ultra.

7800 is only 40% faster than normal 6800. nobody knows what is the requirement for next generation games because dx10 isn't out yet, and there are no dx10 compatible video cards on market.

Have you had your dell for more than 21 days? If not, you can return it for that. I think it can be possible, but it will be a hefty price.

Right now, it is not possible to upgrade to the 7800. Dell has their laptops built so that you can only upgrade to the specific video cards that are offered for your laptop. If they start offering the 7800 card with the 9300 system, then you will be able to upgrade to the 7800 .

Like Nick said, if you are with in 21 days of the shipping date ( i believe that is the correct date but I've heard different stories on the actual date), you can return it. Problem is that it will probably take around a month at least to get your refund back so you can buy a new one.

Of course, until they have a better card in the XPS line, they can't put the 7800 gtx in the i9300... who would pay an extra $600 for the same comp with some flashy lights? :p

a standard 7800 card may be offered for the 9300 in the near future. There are no games i am aware of that the 9300 with a 6800 card cannot handle. if you are that serious about gaming why did you buy a laptop??? Desktops rule for gaming and are far more comfortable to game on than a laptop will ever be. The performance difference is rated at twenty to thirty percent, not forty percent over the 6800 like someone else here posted.
