I purchased a MobileEdge Premium Backpack when I bought my M1710. The thing is durable and has massive room in it. I can easily fit my lappie + Logitech's ALTO notebook stand with wireless keyboard. My extra battery and power adapter fit with no problem as well.

As for waterproof - well, I haven't tested it... LOL but it has kept the rain off from the car to the office door.

    Check it out -

NB customers get a 10% discount + free shipping. See the MobileEdge link at the start of my post.

If you need waterproofing for a backpack, your only option (if you want to spend less than £65) is to put whatever any moisture sensitive items inside a plastic bag before putting them in your backpack.

Most waterproof backpacks are only waterproof for a limited portion of their lifespan.

    **EDIT**

I just thought I's add; I ride bikes a lot too. I purchased an own-brand backpack from Blacks for £20. Not only does my M1730 fit inside, but the backpack is now nearly 3 years old and still going strong after almost daily abuse on and off the bike, through all weathers and a couple of falls. It's also very comfortable.

I bought it because it was cheap and at the time I was hard up for cash. I was going to buy a better one later on. Happily, i've not needed to!

Mate, are you talking about push bikes, or motorbikes here? I ride motorbikes, picked up a nice backpack from strandbags (a bag shop over here in Australia) for $89.00AU. Im pretty sure it wasn't waterproof, but if I thought the weather looked dodge, I'd put it into a plastic bag. But thats only really necessary if its really raining hard IMO.

The advantage in 15" laptops is there are heaps of bags out there for them. My new machine is huge, very hard to find a bags for...

One other suggestion, riding, be it on a pedal bike, or motorbike, is quite dangerous. Taking a spill on your bike could end in a non-functioning laptop! It would be a very good idea to invest in accidental damage coverage from Dell. Can't stress this enough.

    Safe riding.

ABSOLUTELY good point! I had an accident once with a motorbike, (car pulled out in front of me, I went over car) in the Philippines, landed on backpack, saved me, not the notebook. Another time, I had a mountain bike accident in USA, again fell on backpack, this time the area in the front where I kept the mouse etc was smashed, but notebook survided.

Moral of the stories is accidents could happen, be safe, have insurance!

    NOTE:
I use a general UW university purple backpack for transporting my notebook all the time as it is less likely to be stolen than a actual "look at me" notebook case!
