    Hey everyone,
I purchased an inspiron 6000 notebook about a month ago and already managed to scratch my screen.....
I was wondering if dell either covers this kind of repair in their warrenty, or if there is anything I can do in order to fix it. Ive read about certain plastic scratch removers, but i dont know how that would work on my lcd screen. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate the help

Unless you got accdental covergae, I doubt Dell will help you. You could replace the screen. The parts are expensive. I don't have any experience with scratch removers. Good Luck.

can u post a picture of the damage? that will help.

however, i dont think it's fixable. depending on how deep it is, you may try to find a replacement LCD on ebay and just bastardize the part you need.

otherwise, it's time to call dell and get it replaced.

not to sound harsh, but how the heck did you scratch your screen? be more careful next time, crazy guy!

haha yeah....it really sucks how it happened....
ya see, my desk is right near my window, and the window was open. As i was out for a few hours the blinds on the window were blowing back and forth and it was rubbing up against my screen causing some scratches in the top corner. Seems like i should've just closed up the laptop.....

Think of it this way, if you dent your car, can you take it in and get it fixed for free? is it the car dealers fault?

I dont think accidental even covers sometihng like that but I could be wrong.

3m does make a plastic scratch remover and polish, its two bottles and a two step process, never used it on an lcd screen though

Those scatch solvents don't work too well, and in some cases they even take away the "clearness" of the screen and make it look kind of cloudy.

We scratched the screen of our dell inspiron two or three years back, and we just lived with it. Its no so bad after awhile. Otherwise, you might need to call dell and just buy a new screen. As mentioned, they do get pretty pricey.
