I've been making fun of the new xps m1730 for the christmas cow look but it keeps coming back into my mind...would you guys recommend it? Portability is not a problem, my price range is 2,000 USD to 2,700 but i can make the 3,000 work out somehow. Damn...this is confusing me. When the new Alienware m17x comes out, will the new xps still be better!? Well i guess that depends on the config but still help plz lol

Hard to say. To get a feel for the XPS M1730, read Chaz's review of it. Alienware and Dell are the same, at least, you should expect the quality to be the same since Dell owns Alienware.

The M17x will be unquestionably better, due mainly to the dual 8800GTXs that it has. Theres no telling when the M1730 will be getting the 8800M, but most signs suggest that it won't be anytime soon.

Yes I've read the review for Chaz's EXCELLENT review. (Seriously that guy's freakin awesome.) Anyways, the scores were higher than of the Alienware m9750. But the new m17x might be better...again, it all depends on what configuration you get. If they have the option for a single 7950 card I'll just go with that.

If you are looking to buy M1730, I would hold until 8800M SLI comes out.

I NEVER EVER thought I would say this, but I would def wait for the m17x. Not only does it look waaay better aesthetically, but it has sli 8800's.....
