    I have a few questions:

    1. What exactly do i need to do this? I gather i need the drive and some sort of adapter and caddy, but i need specifics, whats this adapter and caddy all about?

    2. Is there any guide to doing this?

    3. The largest 2.5" drive i can find is the 320GB WD Scorpio, will there be larger drives in the near future? 320GB and even 250GB isnt really cost effective for me, using an external solution like im doing right now is better, will there be 500GB 2.5" drives anytime soon?

    You'll need -

PN - C7586 Hard Drive Carrier for HDD bay #2
PN - XK231 Interposer (interfaces HDD to laptop)
    4 X M3 x 3mm countersunk micro-screw for drive to caddy
    3 X M2.5 x 5mm countersunk micro-screw for caddy to lappy

Stipulate its for HDD2 Bay as the caddies for HDD1 and HDD2 are mirror images of each other.

Install - Stick Interposer on drive, screw drive into Caddy, install caddy into HDD2 bay, laughing.

500GB drives are supposed to be coming out sometime soon (next several months). I believe some OEM's already have them. I expect they will be pricey though.

I mostly concur with what Steve said, except:

I was under the impression that C7586 was already for bay #2, so there doesn't seem to be much need to stipulate anything (but can't hurt either).

The screws are standard M2.5 x 5mm ( Thread). Dell attempts to charge you $10 per screw (that's why they are called "screws"), so see if you can find some compatible screws in some old computer parts or some such.

Order the above at the time of ordering the system to save on shipping.

Yeh - I assume it is too but it's worth stressing.
