I have the Dell XPS M140 Laptop...

    Configuration....

    Pentium M 1.73
    512 DDR2
    60 gig 7200rpm hard drive
    Integrated graphics
    dc/dvd burner

Can my Notebook handle Vista? If I should upgrade what should I get for under $900.00

I think I have the IGA 950 in this laptop, however, how fast will it be with dual core?

Also, with the integrated graphics, I cannot run the Vista Ultimate only the basic edition correct?

I'm just trying to decide if it's better to sell this laptop and get something much more suitable for Vista.

Looking up a quick review on this site for the XPS M140 shows that it has the GMA 900, thus far the GMA 950 is the lowest that can run aero.

fact is that based on some of the configs now being sold with vista, yours should not fare to poorly I would strongly reccomend upgrading the ram. other than that you will be perfectly fine.

While it will not be able to use Aero, all other Vista features should be perfectly fine on that laptop.

FYI, I used to have that laptop: it's the GMA 900 and not the 950.

Good point, 512 ram is the MINIMUM for home basic, one GB is the minimum for home premium and up, two GB is highly reccomended.

You don't want Vista anyway... haven't you seen the Apple commercial with the man in black... It's right on.
