On the UK dell Site an XPS m1210 costs £946, or about $1772, in the following configuration:
Core Duo 2300E
512MB RAM
Integrated Intel graphics
80GB 5400rpm hard drive.
Upgrading the RAM to 1GB costs £141, well over $250, while the upgrade to the Nvidia 7400 is a whopping £470, approaching one thousand dollars when converted. Now while that last one is likely to be an error, it still means that I'd probably end up paying £1200 for a computer that could be had for nearly half the price in the States. Unfortunately ranting about it here is probably pointless, I'm just pissed off that I can't justify a computer that I want and would easily be able to afford if I lived across the sea. Plus, they force you to get the 9 cell battery with the 7400, which is extra bulk that I do not want.

well the numbers are usually the same , only the currency differes
maybe Uk has bigger standart than USA, because many people can afford it buying , while living in UK.
-
from what ive observed, in the UK the prices of a lot of things are more expensive than the USA, not just dell computers
-
-
Well either that or someone uses a well and truly out of date exchange rate to get these prices.

You could fly with an empty suitcase to the US, have a few days holiday, buy a laptop and a load of clothes and the money you save would cover your costs. Just don't get pulled by customs on the way back!

lt's called VAT, and l think it's 22%
I wish Dell would stop ripping off the UK
