I like the 8600 a lot, but I do not like the blue accents on the case, and I do not like that it has been out for a year, I get the feeling that it will be replaced soon. I bet that they are waiting to replace it once that Sonoma stuff comes out.

This is probably true. It seems likely that the 8700 will come out once the sonoma chipset is released.
GPU cooling (100°C->75°C)* Inspiron 8600 * 1.8ghz Pentium M * 128 MB Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo (337/242 -> 400/300) * 2x512 MB DDR2700 SDRAM * Aquamark 3: 24058 * 3DMark'03: 3404 * 3DMark'01 SE: 13120 -
true, but if Intel keeps on delaying its release of the sonoma chipset then notebook manufacturers are going to want to refresh their lines anyway as consumers (such as yourself) will start to hold off on purchases due to the expectation of something new soon. Dell can always slip the new chip into its configuration. Tough call, but if I were you I might wait and see if an 8700 type of notebook shows up in the next 2 - 3 months.

I think that I will wait, actually, I know I will, because right now, it is not important that I have a laptop, it would be nice, but my desktop is fine for now. However, I do need it by summer, because I do not want to be as attached to my room as I was this summer. So i can wait. I would like it sooner rather than later though [

I would really LOVE to see a Dell 8700
