Hey,
My expected delivery of my XPS 1530 is on July 27th, so i called Dell to find out the status of my laptop. They claim that my laptop has been shipped and the package is currently in the US. The customer service rep said that I should receive it on the 26 or the 27th. I just checked the Dell Canada website and to find out the status of my laptop. The site claims that my laptop is still in "production"![]()
. So I'm not sure if Dell customer service is BS'ing me or if the Dell Canada website is garbage. Has anyone else have the same situation happen to them also?

edit: they would always tell you the way that would take the longest to arrive. they wouldnt say it was shipped if it wasn't they'd be more likely to say it was in production even after it had shipped like they did with me. -
The website is really bad, so I'd trust more what the rep says than the website.
-
The site does mess up from time to time, but the reps also lie to get you off the phone or to stop emailing them. Until you have tracking info, assume it it is still being built.
-
I doubt they are lieing. They have no reason to, and to give specifics like that i would especially not think so. You should expect it really soon! Congrats on the purchase!

I had been told twice that my laptop shipped, when it really was still in build waiting for a battery.

I would use the automated dell tracking service; they break down what part of "in production" your in, and if its shipped, they will give you a tracking number.
You can find this on their "Support/Contact Us" Portion of their site
Here is the link to the US numbers:

Yeah, I know. I called and checked online. It said it was still in production, build stage, but when I called and spoke with a rep, I was told it shipped. Once two weeks before it really shipped, and again a few days before it shipped. I was told each time it had already been picked up by the carrier.

Update: Ok, so I called back Dell and they say that laptop was shipped on Tuesday to the US. They gave me my tracking number from Purolator. So I called Purolator and they say that it take 4-5 business days for my package to cross the boarder via US/Canada customs
. It looks like I won't be able to get my laptop until Wednesday or Thursday because there's a national holiday on Tues (Canada Day). I really wanted it by today, but at least I know that it has been officially shipped and it's sitting somewhere in one of the 50 states.

How reliable is their Automated Order Status number? My order is supposed to ship today (6/27) and I called that number which told me my order is in the boxing stage.
-
It won't ship today. Maybe tomorrow. How long has it been in boxing?
-
I'm not sure how long it has been in boxing I never checked until today.
-
It takes 2 - 5 days usually. They have to fly it from Malaysia to the US and then put it in a box.
-
So is it reasonable to expect to actually receive my laptop in less than a week?
