I was rollin' on an AMD Duron 1.2 GHz(non-dual core), an OLD nVidia IGP with 8 MB vRAM, 40 GB HDD, and 256MB RAM on an old Compaq Presario 5000 Desktop before I got the notebook I'm on now (in sig).

EDIT: Oh, it also had Windows ME. Ouch.

LOL! I'd like an XPS m5130! Seems like it would be LEAPS ahead in computer technology. It only has a 6800? Oh darn. I guess that's what you get for a computer that seems like it could be from 0250 A.D.

But in all seriousness, unless you game more than your parents or do autocad and whatnot, there's nothing to be jealous about. :D

If you mean that you want to get a higher screen resolution, I am tying on Dell E1505 WXGA screen, and I am very happy with the resolution. If you want a high resolution, just get an rxternal monitor. I don't get it how some people can look at something so small like WSXGA+. Yes, you can see more things on the screen, but I wonder how can they read such a small fonts.

I have a WSXGA+ screen on my 1520 and it's not too small for me, it's just perfect :)

An annoying thing about purchasing a computer is that 3 months later, something better and cheaper comes out. Oh well...

On a 15" the highest I'll go is WXGA+. Yes the higher resolution is nice but I regularly spend 4+ hours in front of my laptops and while the smaller fonts aren't a problem to start, after a few hours the eye strain is pretty great even with breaks. I have perfect vision and I'd like it to stay that way as long as possible. :)

In general looking at screens a lot is straining regardless the size but a looking at smaller things increases that. I guess if I were watching only movies and playing games it wouldn't matter much but when it comes to looking at text, too small = a pain for me.

I wish I can compare between WXGA and WXGA+ up close. Most of the retailers have only WXGA, so I don't really have a chance to see how good WXGA+ that everyone wants to have it.

I know what you mean. I was at best buy and circuit city the other day and WXGA seems to be the norm for most 15" laptops. I only saw the higher resolutions on the 17". LoL, I was going around checking property settings on most of them and people kept asking if they could help me.
Don't get me wrong though, the WXGA looks pretty darn good. It looks better on some manufacturers screens than others. The LCD quality seems to play a big part in it.

I have been able to only compare the resolutions based on laptops I've owned and laptops friends have owned because store selections are mostly WXGA.
